Public Service Enterprise Group's (PEG) solar power unit said
Wednesday it bought two solar farms from Juwi Solar Inc. in Ohio
and Florida and has hired the company to build a third solar
facility in New Jersey.
All three projects are expected to be completed by the end of
2010, said PSEG Solar Source of Newark, N.J. They include a
15-megawatt solar farm in Jacksonville, Fla., a 12-megawatt solar
farm in Wyandot, Ohio, and a 2.2-megawatt solar facility in
Hackettstown, N.J. The projects will use thin-film solar panels
made by First Solar Inc. (FSLR) of Tempe, Ariz., that will be
mounted to the ground.
American Electric Power Co. Inc. (AEP) unit AEP Ohio has
contracted for the output from the Ohio solar facility and
municipal utility JEA has agreed to purchase the output from the
Florida plant, PSEG said. Mars Inc. unit Mars Snackfood has
contracted for the output from the New Jersey plant, which will be
located near its corporate headquarters.
Juwi Solar will build the solar farms and initially operate and
maintain them, PSEG said.
