GM Indonesia said Tuesday that its operations in the country will not be affected by General Motors Corp.'s (GM) bankruptcy filing.

"GM's assembly, production and supplying operations in Thailand will continue to operate normally," GM Indonesia said.

GM Indonesia imports GM vehicles from Thailand as it hasn't reopened its plant here since its closure several years ago.

GM filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection Monday in the largest-ever U.S. industrial bankruptcy case.

GM Indonesia's managing director Mukiat Sutikno said that its dealers in Indonesia will remain in operation, adding it will open two to three more dealerships in the country in the next three months.

Sutikno said that GM Indonesia has sold 970 units of Chevrolet in Indonesia so far this year, out of its target to sell 2,600 units for the entire year.
