A high-ranking meeting between government officials and potential investors on the future of Adam Opel GmbH, a unit of General Motors Corp. (GM), hasn't yet begun, a government source said Friday evening.

A deal reached in principle between Magna International Inc. (MGA) and GM is now being studied by experts from the German government, the person said.

Once this examination is concluded, high-ranking government representatives will study the deal, the person said.
