Fiat SpA's (F.MI) bid for General Motors Corp.'s (GM) German unit Adam Opel is "more complex" than the one involving the Italian car maker and Chrysler, as there are elections in Germany, said Italian Industry Minister Claudio Scajola Saturday.

The issues over the Fiat bid that make it more complex are this year's "elections in Germany," Scajola said at a press conference on energy in Rome.

Scajola also told reporters the government plans to meet Fiat officials in the "coming" days over the future of its Italian plants should the Opel bid succeed.
