Aydin Displays Selected for the Halifax-Class Modernization (HCM) Program

Video Display Corporation (Nasdaq:VIDE), an internationally
recognized leader in design and manufacture of specialty niche
market and rugged displays for commercial, industrial and military
requirements, announced that its Aydin Displays, Inc. subsidiary
has been selected to supply several different types of displays for
the Halifax-Class Modernization (HCM) program. The modernization
will include a new command and control system, a new radar
capability, a new electronic warfare system and upgraded
communication for the 12 Canadian frigates, which were commissioned
between 1992 and 1997. The Halifax class multi-role patrol frigates
are considered the backbone of the Canadian Navy. Aydin will be
supplying nearly 1000 displays over the life of the program to be
used in several different locations on the frigates including the
CIC room and bridge. Displays will be mounted in various positions
including racks, consoles and bulk head mounts. The Halifax
frigates will utilize various sized rugged Aydin LCD's ranging from
17" up to 65" and utilize several new cutting edge technologies
including LED backlights with sunlight readability and NVIS
capabilities while meeting all the stringent Naval requirements for
shock, vibration, and EMI. The initial contract awards totaled over
$4.3M with follow on contracts expected to be awarded immediately.
