MTN Nigeria Communications Ltd. said Friday that it has acquired additional spectrum from Intercellular Nigeria Ltd. that will help it to deepen broadband penetration in the country.

The Nigerian telecommunicatons company said it has acquired 10 megahertz in the 800 megahertz band.

The Nigerian Communications Commission has approved the transaction and assigned the frequency to MTN Nigeria, the company said.
