BEVERLY HILLS, Calif.,
April 28 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ --
Veteran manager Dave Brown
will spearhead Artist International's writer and director
divisions as the newly appointed President of Motion Picture and
Television Literary for the multi-faceted management and
production company. Brown, owner and CEO of Sleeping Giant
Entertainment, will fold his management firm into Artist
International, bringing his diverse client roster with him as well
as several projects currently in production. In his new capacity,
Brown will oversee Artist International's current management
clientele of screenwriters and television/film directors. "Dave
brings years of expertise and an uncanny hands-on approach to our
company and we are excited he has joined our team," said
Steven Saxton, Chairman and
CEO of Hollywood Studios International (HYWS), the parent
company of Artist International.
Brown will work closely with recent hires Eric Christenson, Hollywood Studios
International's President of Acquisitions and Distribution, as well
as CFO Marcia Allen, to develop a
slate of client generated projects that can be financed internally.
"Having the ability to walk down the hall and directly access HSI's
resources puts my clients and myself in a unique and exciting
position," said Brown. "Never before has a foreign sales company
with a film fund been united with a stable of talented writers and
directors. The sky's the limit."
Brown, who got his start as a literary agent representing
writers and directors before transitioning into management, is
eager to help build up Artist International's roster of talent and
take the company to the next level. "HSI and I share a vision of
how to take advantage of the current changes in the entertainment
industry," said Brown. "Artist International is the perfect new
home for us." Brown founded Sleeping Giant Entertainment in 2006
after leaving Benderspink. Prior to this, Brown held posts at
agencies Bruce Brown and Genesis and
got his start at Writers & Artists. As a young agent, Brown was
instrumental in negotiating and packaging the mega-hit thriller,
Saw, inciting a bidding war for the unknown screenwriters'
first project. As a manager he had a hand in developing the hit
Showtime series Dexter.
Brown arrives at his new post representing among others:
James Manos, Jr. (Dexter, The
Sopranos), Jon Amiel
(Creation, Entrapment), Victor
Salva (Jeepers Creepers, Rosewood), Adam Torchia (Knights Templar),
Ken Nunn (John From Cincinnati,
The Line), Zenoscope Entertainment (Straw Men, Piper)
and several projects in the works including the black comedy
Love, Scotch and Death, and the crime thriller Criminal
Empire For Dummy's, both slated for production this year. These
current projects will now be under the umbrella of Artist
International, a wholly owned subsidiary of Hollywood Studios
International.
