--Hitachi Ltd. plans to sell part of its 40% stake in Hitachi Transport System to U.S. private-equity firm KKR & Co. for about 200 billion yen ($1.56 billion), Nikkei reports, without citing sources.

--KKR acquired preferential negotiation rights for the unit, and Hitachi won't engage in the logistics business but will continue to collaborate in logistics systems and other areas, according to Nikkei.
