Lithium demand has skyrocketed this year as a recovering global
economy has driven growth for lithium-ion battery technology in
mobile phones, personal digital assistants, laptops and, most
recently, electric vehicles. According to the Global X Lithium
ETF's profile "Lithium is used almost exclusively for industrial
purposes, and its price will, thus, fluctuate with industrial
activity." The Bedford Report examines the outlook for companies in
the Industrial Metals and Minerals Industry and provides equity
research on Lithium Exploration Group, Inc. (OTCBB: LEXG) and First
Lithium Resources, Inc. (TSX-V: MCI) (PINKSHEETS: FLNTF). Access to

Earlier this year Economist Daniela Desormeaux gave a
presentation at the Technology and Rare Earth Metals Conference
arguing that lithium represents a "growth industry" and that
"lithium demand will show interesting growth rates because it has
many applications in addition to batteries." Emerging Economies in
China and India continue to move toward more efficient
manufacturing of quality glass, boosting lithium demand.
Desormeaux believes there is room for more lithium producers to
enter the market, arguing that the element is abundant -- as
evidenced by a total of 80 exploration projects that have been
announced globally in the last few years.

Most of the production needed to satisfy the market will come
from the South American Lithium Belt, a 500-mile-by-200-mile strip
centered on the junction of Argentina, Bolivia and Chile, which
contains more than 75 percent of the world's lithium reserves.
Certain areas of North America have also shown rich lithium
deposits.
Lithium Exploration Group's projects include its Valleyview
Project in Canada and Salta Project in Argentina. The company says
that it boasts connections to ready markets for their product,
including some of the largest manufacturers of lithium-based
battery products in China and India.
