              Christian Salvesen wins #5 million contract with SSL



Christian Salvesen, the European logistics specialist today announced a #5
million distribution contract with healthcare products manufacturer, SSL. It
builds on an existing eight-year relationship with SSL at Newcastle-under-Lyme.
Awarded in a competitive tender, Christian Salvesen will carry out the majority
of SSL's inbound and outbound distribution in the UK.



From January 2004, Christian Salvesen will transport SSL products, which include
the Scholl, Durex, Resolve, and Remegel brands from SSL's warehouses at Heywood
and Middleton, Manchester to distributors, wholesalers and supermarkets across
the UK. Salvesen will also manage inbound materials flows from SSL's factories
in Derby, Peterlee and Redruth. Christian Salvesen's leading edge track and
trace system, SHARPNet, will give SSL full visibility of product throughout the
UK supply chain.



Peter Blanchard, SSL's Director of European Logistics, commented:  "Christian
Salvesen has a strong track-record of performance with SSL at
Newcastle-under-Lyme, which we are confident will be replicated at the
Manchester sites. Bringing together transport under a single carrier, supported
by technology linked to each point, will give us greater control over the flow
of products and our service to customers and the use of fleet to drive down
costs."
