Unilever PLC (UL) Friday said it hasn't resumed palm oil purchases from Golden Agri-Resources Ltd. (E5H.SG) in Indonesia after Nestle S.A. (NESN.VX) said it placed an order following progress by the producer on environment and sustainability.

"Our position remains unchanged. We applaud (Golden Agri-Resource's) words of commitment to sustainable practices," a Unilever spokeswoman said in response to a query from Dow Jones Newswires. "If these intentions are followed up by concrete actions then Unilever will reconsider its position."

The spokeswoman didn't specify what those concrete actions were.

Golden Agri-Resources Ltd. (E5H.SG) said Thursday Nestle has resumed buying palm oil from its Indonesian unit after the supplier made progress to comply with the Swiss food company's sourcing guidelines.
