ENGLEWOOD CLIFFS, N.J., March 30 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Best

well-being, with the same rich, creamy taste of original Best

the Heart Health of the Matter Best Foods(R) Canola Real Mayonnaise
contains fats that help to maintain heart health as part of a diet
low in saturated fat and cholesterol, when substituted for other
foods high in saturated fat and when caloric intake is not
increased. These include omega-3 (ALA) and omega-6 fatty acids
(LA), which are types of polyunsaturated fat that do not occur
naturally within the body and must be obtained from dietary intake.
In addition, Best Foods(R) Canola Real Mayonnaise is high in
monounsaturated fat, low in saturated fat and contains zero trans
fat per serving.* "The nutritional profile of Best Foods(R) Canola
Real Mayonnaise is intended to appeal to those consumers who want
their diet to include a healthy balance of mono and polyunsaturated
fats," said David Blanchard, Senior Vice President of Research and
Development & Supply Chain, Unilever. "In fact, the product is
high in monounsaturated fatty acids like olive oil, with the
additional benefit of essential fatty acids. And it tastes great,
with a creamy texture that brings out the flavor in a range of
healthy foods including fish, whole grains and vegetables." Canola
"Can-Do" The U.S. Department of Agriculture(1) has recently
released a new set of dietary guidelines recommending consumers
increase their intake of foods containing mono and polyunsaturated
fatty acids, while keeping their intake of saturated fats and trans
fats as low as possible. Best Foods(R) Canola Real Mayonnaise fits
the bill. The guidelines specifically note that canola and other
similar plant oils are an ideal source of omega-3 (ALA) fatty
acids. In addition, the U.S. Institute of Medicine at the National
Academy of Sciences(2) recommends that women consume 1.1 grams, and
men consume 1.6 grams, of omega-3 (ALA) a day. This translates to
roughly 1 to 1.5 tablespoons of Best Foods(R) Canola Real
Mayonnaise. The new product joins a growing portfolio of varieties
within the Best Foods(R) line, including Best Foods(R) Real
Mayonnaise, Best Foods(R) Reduced Fat Mayonnaise, and Best Foods(R)
Light Mayonnaise. The assortment of Best Foods(R) products reflects
the brand's commitment to providing a range of choices to consumers
no matter their taste, dietary or nutritional preferences. Best
Foods(R) Canola Real Mayonnaise is currently available in
supermarkets and convenience stores nationwide for a suggested
retail price of $3.59 for a 32 ounce jar. Visit
