BLOOMINGTON, Minn.,
Dec. 1, 2011 /PRNewswire/
-- Pearson VUE, the computer-based testing business of
Pearson, announced that the National Registry of Emergency Medical
Technicians (NREMT) has renewed their contract for test delivery of
their emergency technician exams. The high-stakes exams will
continue to be available throughout the Pearson VUE-owned and
-operated network of more than 260 Pearson Professional Centers and
supplemented by select Pearson VUE Authorized Test Center locations
in rural areas.
The NREMT is the Nation's Emergency Medical Services (EMS)
Certification® agency established to serve the Emergency Medical
Services community by providing a valid, uniform process to assess
the knowledge and skills required for competent practice by EMS
professionals across the country. The NREMT seeks to verify that
every EMT and paramedic who passes the NREMT exam can safely and
effectively practice at entry levels of competency. The NREMT also
maintains a registry of certification status.
"Security is a key factor in the delivery of our exams," said
Bill Brown executive director of
NREMT. "By testing in Pearson VUE's network we are ensuring that
the individuals who sit for our exams are in fact the people NREMT
has authorized to take the exams. Pearson VUE's Secure Testing
Framework helps protect the integrity of our high-stakes
examinations." Mr. Brown added, "Pearson VUE has proved to be an
excellent partner. Their test center coverage provides our
candidates with the ability to test almost every day of the year.
In addition, by providing testing centers on military
bases, service members can earn EMS certifications while
on active duty. Other capabilities, such as Computer Adapted
Testing (CAT), advanced psychometric services and rapid turnaround
of test results, enable our candidates to start practicing their
profession much more quickly than was possible with paper and
pencil testing."
"We are thrilled that NREMT has renewed their contract with
Pearson VUE," said Robert Whelan,
president and chief executive officer of Pearson VUE. "NREMT is a
respected organization with a highly valuable credential. We are
honored to support them in their life-saving mission and we look
forward to continuing our relationship."
