WASHINGTON, July 14, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Pearson, the
world's leading learning company, today announced that the American
Council on Education's College Credit Recommendation Service (ACE
CREDIT) has evaluated and recommended college credit for
CourseConnect™, Pearson's award-winning suite of interactive online
courses.
The American Council on Education, the major coordinating body
for all the nation's higher education institutions, seeks to
provide leadership and a unifying voice on key higher education
issues and to influence public policy through advocacy, research
and program initiatives.
ACE CREDIT connects workplace learning with colleges and
universities by helping adults gain access to academic credit at
colleges and universities for formal courses and examinations taken
in the workplace or other settings outside traditional higher
education. Students who complete ACE credit-recommended
courses can be eligible for transfer credit at more than 2,100 ACE
CREDIT College and University Network members.
Winner of the 2010 CODiE Award for Best Postsecondary Course or
Learning Management Solution, CourseConnect courses can be used by
individual instructors teaching fully online or in blended classes,
or as complete programs by institutions where online learning is a
key component of their strategy. Course content is designed
specifically for online delivery by a team of respected subject
matter and assessment experts, faculty advisers, course authors and
e-Learning instructional designers, and is based directly on clear
learning objectives. The CourseConnect library continues to
expand, with courses available in such subjects as business,
criminal justice, computer science and general education.
"More students are looking for flexible and affordable ways to
achieve their educational goals, and online access and transfer
credit allow them to do just that. The American Council on
Education's rigorous process for course evaluation and the
resulting recommendation for CourseConnect validates the quality of
our courses, and gives students and institutions increased
confidence that their learning experience will be rich and
authentic," said Don Kilburn, CEO of
Pearson Learning Solutions.
"In order to compete in the global marketplace, our country
needs to significantly increase the number of Americans with
postsecondary degrees," said Molly
Broad, President of the American Council on Education. "The
American Council on Education's CREDIT Program is proud to be an
important part of that work by evaluating and recommending college
credit for programs like CourseConnect."
For more than 30 years, colleges and universities have trusted
ACE credit to provide reliable course equivalency information to
facilitate their decisions to award academic credit. For more
