JAKARTA (AFP)--Workers at a giant Indonesian mine owned by U.S.
company Freeport-McMoRan Copper & Gold Inc. (FCX) have ended
their three-month strike over wages after reaching a deal with the
company Wednesday, a union spokesman said.
The workers would resume work on Saturday after signing the pay
agreement, union spokesman Juli Parorrongan said in a text
message.
"The deal has been signed this evening by (union) chairman
Sudiro who represented the workers and PT Freeport Indonesia's
president director and CEO Armando Mahler," he said.
He didn't elaborate on the deal but earlier Wednesday said they
had agreed to a 37% wage increase.
