Dana Corporation Named a Finalist for Automotive News PACE Award Commercial Vehicle Group's Robin Hood(TM) Shape Optimization Software Recognized in IT Category TOLEDO, Ohio, Nov. 10 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Dana Corporation (NYSE:DCN) has been named a finalist for the 2005 Automotive News PACE (Premier Automotive Suppliers' Contribution to Excellence) Award. Dana's Commercial Vehicle Systems group's Robin Hood(TM) shape optimization software was recognized in the information systems category. (Logo: http://www.newscom.com/cgi-bin/prnh/19990903/DANA ) Presented by Automotive News, Capgemini, and Transportation Research Center Inc., the PACE Award recognizes automotive suppliers for exceptional innovation in the main categories of products, manufacturing processes and equipment, and information technology and services. The Robin Hood software relies on Dana's Automatic Spatial Perturbation Method, or ASPM, to allow for highly accurate and rapid analysis of components for optimization of weight and strength during the "virtual-design" phase. Robin Hood software is the only known software that can automatically add as well as remove material from a product as necessary. The software reduces the size and weight of commercial-vehicle components, while improving their reliability and durability with the added benefit of shortening the design cycle. "Being named a finalist for the PACE Award is always an honor," said Dana Chairman and CEO Michael J. Burns. "Dana is proud of the people behind this innovative software package and the commitment they've shown to better serving our customers." Nick Cole, president of Dana's Heavy Vehicle Technologies and Systems Group, added, "The Robin Hood software, which was developed by our own engineers, enables Dana to reduce costs and component weight at the same time we improve 'speed to market' and product reliability. Our customers are the ultimate winners." Dana along with other 2005 PACE Award finalists will undergo an extensive review process including a site visit by industry, academic, and business leaders. Award winners will be announced in Detroit on April 11, 2005.
