Dana Corporation Supplying Cam Cover Modules to Ford TOLEDO, Ohio,
Nov. 10 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Dana Corporation (NYSE:DCN)
announced today that it has begun supplying a complete cam cover
module for the Ford 5.4-liter Triton(R) 2V engine, which is used in
several full-size Ford and Lincoln trucks, vans, and sport-utility
vehicles. (Logo: http://www.newscom.com/cgi-bin/prnh/19990903/DANA
) Dana's cam cover module includes a thermoset plastic cover,
isolation system (gasket and grommets), fasteners, baffle, oil-fill
tube, and breather tubes for the air/oil separation system. Its
design and componentry reduce noise, vibration, and harshness
levels, while its use of organic sealing materials, which are less
permeable to hydrocarbons, lowers vehicle emissions. "As Dana's
third cam cover program launched in the last 12 months, the sealing
module for the Ford 5.4-liter engine underscores our capabilities
in designing and manufacturing advanced sealing systems," said
Michael J. Burns, Dana chairman and CEO. "These cam cover modules
also demonstrate Dana's commitment to providing engine and vehicle
makers with more value through new product and process
technologies." "Unlike cam covers made of magnesium or aluminum,
thermoset plastic does not require complex casting, machining, and
assembly operations or painting," said Mike Laisure, president of
Dana's Automotive Systems Group. "Thermoset also allows for greater
design options, which are more cost effective and helps decrease
weight - important objectives for high-volume engines like the Ford
5.4-liter V8." Thermoset plastic materials also provide excellent
heat resistance and meet the rigidity and strength requirements of
vehicles powered by the 5.4- liter Triton 2V engine. These vehicles
include Ford F-150 trucks, Expedition and Excursion sport-utility
vehicles, and E-series vans, as well as Lincoln Navigator
sport-utility vehicles. Dana designs and manufactures cylinder head
cover systems in five plants in four countries. Dana Corporation is
a global leader in the design, engineering, and manufacture of
value-added products and systems for automotive, commercial, and
