ATLANTA, June 13, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Crawford &
Company (NYSE: CRDA; CRDB), the world's largest independent
provider of claims management solutions, has promoted Mauricio Alonso to the position of chief
executive officer of the Company's Latin American and Caribbean operations.
Alonso was appointed senior vice president and regional managing
director of Latin America and the
Caribbean in March 2005. "Under Mauricio's guidance,
Crawford's operations throughout
those regions have grown significantly in recent years," said
Kevin B. Frawley, chief executive
officer, Property & Casualty – Americas. "This promotion
recognizes the success of those efforts and our positive
expectations for the future under his continued leadership."
Alonso has more than 20 years of experience in the insurance
industry. Before joining Crawford,
he was vice president of the Latin America Claims Division for AIG.
He also served as claims manager, AIG Mexico; claims manager, AIG
Brazil; regional director, AIG Mexico; and regional claims
supervisor for Geico.
During Alonso's tenure, Crawford has developed a single, integrated IT
platform, installed new country management and increased its Global
Technical Services (GTS(SM)) presence in Latin America. GTS is Crawford's solution for large, complex claims.
In addition, the Company has become a market leader in providing
claims services for affinity programs in the region.
Due to the growing insurance market and Crawford's increasing presence in Latin America, the Company recently has
increased its footprint in the area. Along with additional claims
offices, Crawford has established
six GTS hubs in the region to more effectively coordinate large
loss adjusting services.
Originally from Nicaragua,
Alonso earned a bachelor's degree in business administration
management from Mercer University in Macon,
Ga., and a master's degree in international business
administration from United States
International University in San
Diego, Calif. He is fluent in English, Spanish and
Portuguese.
