LAKE SUCCESS, N.Y.,
Feb. 27, 2012 /PRNewswire/
-- The Garden City Group, Inc. (GCG), one of the largest
claims administration firms in the country, has contributed
$49,000 to its charity of the year,
The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society®.
The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) is, according to its
website, the world's largest voluntary health agency dedicated to
funding blood cancer research and providing education and services
to support and improve the quality of life of leukemia, lymphoma,
Hodgkin's disease and myeloma patients and families.
In support of the LLS, GCG employees raised money throughout the
year through various activities, including a pep rally, bake sales,
jeans days, sports tournaments and raffles. GCG's management team
presented a $25,000 check, which
included an additional corporate contribution, to the LLS.
Employees and their families also raised another $24,000 through participation in and direct
donations to the society's Light The Night® Walk, for a total
contribution of $49,000.
"It was a heartfelt and fun experience to coordinate some of
GCG's efforts, including the Light The Night Walk, and I am
grateful to have been a part of such a worthwhile effort," said
Tara Donohue, project manager,
operations for GCG and internal fundraising coordinator for the
Lake Success office.
"The Light The Night Walk was an inspirational way for GCG to
show our support for such a worthy cause. I'm extremely proud of
all of our employees for all their efforts, including raising an
additional $24,000 through the walk,"
said David Isaac, chief executive
officer, GCG. "These terrible diseases affect families everywhere,
and we hope that our Company's support and contributions will help
in working towards LLS's mission."
