Annual Awards Honor the Hottest Products at the 2010 International
CES® in Las Vegas; Introduces New "Green Tech" Category Entries to
Be Featured in CNET's Newest Blog "Countdown to CES: 30 Days of

it is now accepting entries for the "Best of CES" Awards at the
2010 International CES in Las Vegas. The Best of CES Awards
recognize the most innovative products that set the standard for
all other products in the industry. Awards will be given in nine
categories, including digital photo and video; car tech and GPS;
cell phones and smartphones; computers and hardware; gaming; home
theater; MP3 and video players; televisions; and a new "green tech"
category which recognizes earth-friendly consumer electronics and
technology. The winners of the Best of CES awards are selected by
CNET editors. Submission is free and can be accessed through an
online form at http://www.cnet.com/best-of-ces. The deadline to
submit is December 11, 2009. New to this year's submission process
is the "Countdown to CES: 30 Days of Innovation." Companies who
complete the submission form and are new to CES will be considered
for the new blog. It will profile 30 young, innovative companies
who are debuting at the show. The blog will launch on Nov. 10. "CES
sets the stage for what consumers can expect to see on store
shelves in the not-too-distant future," said Scott Ard, Editor in
Chief of CNET. "For weeks leading up to the show, CNET editors
evaluate hundreds of submissions for early award consideration.
Once the show kicks off, our editors scour the show floor to get a
complete picture of what is being presented and, ultimately, to
determine which are worthy of consideration for Best of CES."
Products will be judged by its potential to: -- Pioneer a new
category, establish an emerging category, or take an existing
category to a new level. -- Excite people with its style,
innovation, usefulness, ease of use, and/or capability to
entertain. -- Endow its owners with a certain cachet, the "cool"
factor. -- Make its way into everyday life. Products must be new,
in that it will not be released before December 1, 2009.
Prototypes, reference designs, or products that represent a proof
of concept will not be considered and the product must be on
exhibit at the 2010 International CES in Las Vegas. CNET editors
will select three finalists in each of the nine categories.
Additionally, the editorial team will choose one product for the
Best in Show award, which recognizes the top product among the nine
winners of the Best of CES 2010 Awards. Viewers online can
participate by voting online for their favorite product to win the
People's Voice award. Finalists will be announced on Friday,
January 8, 2010 at 10 AM, PT live on the CNET Stage in the South
Hall 3 Lobby of the Las Vegas Convention Center. Winners will be
announced on Saturday, January 9, 2010 at 11 AM, PT at the CNET
