Airline offering bonus miles for donations, employees volunteering
in relief effort PHOENIX, Sept. 2 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- America
West Airlines (NYSE:AWA) today announced it is encouraging its
FlightFund members to participate in the relief effort for victims
of Hurricane Katrina by offering members 500 miles for every $50
donation made to the American Red Cross relief efforts. The offer
is good through Oct. 31, 2005. (Logo:

addition, the airline's Miles of Hope program, through which the
flying public may donate FlightFund miles to four national
nonprofit organizations (the American Red Cross, Angel Flight,
Fisher House Foundation and Make-A-Wish Foundation), is also being
re-marketed to encourage additional mileage donation for relief
efforts. Donated miles are used to fulfill each organization's
mission. Mileage donations are accepted in 1,000-mile increments
and can be made online at the airline's Web site at

To receive mileage under the Hurricane relief initiative,

including: * Participating in the ATA's (Air Transport Association)
assistance in evacuating New Orleans, La. America West has made
available a 150-seat Airbus A320 aircraft for relief flights to and
from New Orleans as needed * America West has also made a $10,000
donation on behalf of its employees to the Red Cross National
Disaster Relief Fund, and its employee volunteer group, the "Do
Crew," will be helping Red Cross chapters in Phoenix and Las Vegas
with fundraising efforts by providing volunteers for telethons that
