Attorney Mary Bonauto and GLAD Receive the 2004 Wainwright Bank Social Justice Award BOSTON, Nov. 4 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Wainwright Bank (NASDAQ:WAIN) last night awarded it's 16th annual Wainwright Bank Social Justice Award to attorney Mary Bonauto and her employer, Gay & Lesbian Advocates & Defenders (GLAD). Ms. Bonauto has been GLAD's Civil Rights Project Director since 1990 and was the lead counsel in the 2004 Goodridge v. Dept. of Public Health decision which resulted in the Supreme Judicial Court ruling that same-sex couples in Massachusetts have the right to marry. Plaintiffs Hillary and Julie Goodridge, and their daughter Annie, assisted Mr. Glassman in presenting the award. "Mary Bonauto's quest to provide these couples with the legal protection and security that accompanies a civil marriage is simply, when all is said and done, a recognition of our common humanity," said Bob Glassman, Co-chairman of Wainwright Bank. The award, accompanied by a $10,000 donation, was presented during the bank's annual customer appreciation event which was attended by over 400 people at the Hyatt Regency Boston.
