mT2a PowerBroadband Products Being Deployed in Hotels, Hospitals, Offshore Drilling Rigs, and Dormitories LAKE OSWEGO, Ore., Oct. 24 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Tut Systems Inc. (NASDAQ:TUTS), an industry leader in enabling the delivery of next-generation data and video services over broadband networks, today announced that it has shipped more than 6,000 lines of its recently released mT2a PowerBroadband system for deployments in Japan, Europe, Middle East, and United States. The product is gaining widespread approval because of its innovative design which provides the performance levels required for next-generation, quad-play IP services while eliminating many of the frustrations often found when installing, using, and maintaining classic xDSL systems. "We are receiving great endorsements from service providers and property owners across multiple markets as they are seeing major benefits from deploying mT2a," stated Greg Ioffe, VP and General Manager of Tut Systems Private Broadband Networks division. "We have shipped systems to major hotels, hospitals, dormitories on military bases, oil drilling rigs, and rail stations. While the primary application supported today is high-speed Internet access, our customers are actively investigating additional services like IPTV, voice-over-IP, and even wireless access over a common infrastructure." "Tut Systems' new mT2a system is an ideal broadband solution for many different applications," said Emmanuel Hardy, Executive VP of Netlogon, a French-based system integrator. "We have deployed and plan to deploy mT2a in hotels, hospitals, and offshore drilling rigs. The mT2a system sets itself apart from any other system with its high performance and innovative solution to the problems that we have typically encountered with xDSL systems. We also think the system is well-suited for deployment in certain enterprise applications that require campus-like coverage of video surveillance and Wi-Fi access." Mr. Suwa, Executive Officer of Partner Business Unit of Nissho Electronics Corporation (NELCO) said, "Tut Systems' mT2a system enables hotels to future-proof their guest broadband networks. It supports two high-definition TV signals simultaneously while still managing room for broadband Internet access and VoIP. In Japan, Internet access is often provided over direct to the home fiber drops so users expect the best performance possible. The mT2a delivers this performance and, with its snap-on CPE, it is very easy to install and maintain." An innovative feature of the mT2a system is the m2 Wallplate which directly snaps onto existing telephone wallplates without rewiring. All power and broadband modules are contained within the small Wallplate eliminating the requirement for separate DSL modems and power supplies. Hotels especially like the reduced clutter and clean appearance of the "no box" solution. The mT2a Master Switch provides unprecedented performance to each endpoint. Delivering over 50 Mbps of bandwidth with support for application-level QoS and VLANs, the system has been specifically designed to handle a "quad play" of converged services such as high-speed Internet access, high definition IPTV streams, voice-over-IP phones, and Wi-Fi access points -- all over a single in-building telephone line.
