SNSA Stolt Nielsen S A (MM)

Stolt-Nielsen S.A. (Oslo Børs: SNI) announced today that Christopher J. Wright will retire from the Board of Directors on September 14, 2009, his 75th birthday.

Mr. Wright previously held the position of President and Chief Operating Officer of SNSA from 1986 to December 2001. He has served as a director of SNSA since May 2002; as the Chairman of the Audit Committee since November 2004 and as the Chairman of the Compensation Committee since June 2004.

"I thank Chris for his dedication and valued contributions to the Company, both as an operating executive and as a director," said Jacob Stolt-Nielsen, Chairman of the Board of SNSA. "His business insight, attention to detail and tenacity will be missed. I wish him a pleasant retirement."

The Company also announced that it intends to commence a search for an additional independent director.
