Since its inception over 38 years ago, Pathmark Stores, Inc. has
always operated by the principle of giving back to the community.
In 2006, Pathmark maintained its high standard for working with the
neighborhoods it services through a combination of both monetary
and in-kind charitable donations. With the support of its customers
and associates, Pathmark was able to provide assistance to over
5,000 non-profit organizations in 2006. These included national
charities such as Childrens Miracle Network, March of Dimes,
Making Strides Against Breast Cancer and the Community Food Banks
located throughout Pathmarks trade area. The balance of assistance
was provided to community-based organizations. In total, Pathmark
donated over $3 million dollars to these charities. Two major
beneficiaries of Pathmarks fund-raising efforts in 06 were
Childrens Miracle Network and Making Strides Against Breast
Cancer. Nearly $600,000 was raised for CMN that doubled what was
raised in the prior year, while Pathmark continues to be the
largest corporate fund-raiser for the American Cancer Societys
Eastern Division in its Making Strides Walk. In addition, at
Pathmarks annual Food Show, held in September, the sample items
were donated to the Community Food Bank of New Jersey, totaling
over 66,000 pounds of product which was a record for any
supermarket trade show held in the state. The company also
continued its annual Warm Coat Drive and Toy Drive in 2006,
providing a basic necessity and holiday gift to thousands of
people. Just over 5,400 coats were collected over a two-week
period, with Pathmarks store in Howell, NJ leading the way with
over 400 coats donated. Over 6,400 toys were collected by
Pathmarks 141 stores, with the Seaford, NY store procuring nearly
1,000 toys for needy children. During the holiday period, the
Company and its associates hosted approximately 400 needy families
with its Adopt-a-Family Program and provided them with over
$100,000 worth of food and gifts. Commenting on Pathmarks 2006
charitable giving program, company CEO John Standley stated, I
wish to thank all those who provided financial or in-kind donations
to help those in need, as well as our associates who volunteered
their time and provided financial assistance to organizations in
their communities. It is gratifying to be able to provide
assistance to so many worthwhile causes and we look forward to
continuing our support in 2007. Pathmark is a leading regional
supermarket chain currently operating 141 stores in the New York,
New Jersey and Philadelphia Metropolitan areas. Additional
