OPNET Technologies, Inc. (NASDAQ:OPNT), a leading provider of management software for networks and applications, today announced at OPNETWORK 2005, OPNET's annual technology conference, that its IT Guru Server Modeling and Mainframe Modeling solutions have received Computer Associates International, Inc.'s (NYSE:CA) ca smart seal of excellence with certification for use with current versions of CA's Unicenter NeuMICS Resource Management and Network and Systems Management solutions. The ca smart Partner Certification is awarded to a select group of innovative partners whose solutions fulfill stringent certification criteria and integrate seamlessly with CA products, enabling customers to take advantage of best-in-class enterprise technologies while minimizing cost, time-to-benefit, and risk. "By enabling IT organizations to model the impact of configuration changes on IT infrastructure and services, OPNET helps CA customers more intelligently plan and execute their technology strategies and further leverage their investments in CA's Unicenter systems and network management solutions," said Saqib Syed, Director of Technology Strategy and Architecture for Enterprise Systems Management at CA. "This enhanced planning reduces infrastructure project risks, optimizes end-to-end service levels, and helps better align IT spending with business requirements." The first of two new integrated solutions makes use of the mainframe RMF data collected and stored by Unicenter NeuMICS in OPNET's IT Guru Mainframe Modeling solution. The second new integrated solution makes use of the agent data collected by Unicenter Network and Systems Management (NSM) in OPNET's IT Guru Server Modeling solution. Alain Cohen, OPNET's President and CTO, explained, "In addition to its real-time management functions, CA Unicenter also serves as a rich source of workload data for OPNET's capacity planning solutions. Our ca smart certification gives our mutual customers the opportunity to extend the value of NeuMICS and NSM data for answering 'what-if' questions related to server consolidations, capacity upgrades, and workload increases in a networked environment." Prior to CA's acquisition of Concord Communications, OPNET was a member of Concord's eHealth Ready Partner Program. As a result, OPNET's network modeling solutions import network link load data from eHealth to more effectively manage the impact of changes to the network infrastructure. Availability Integration support for CA's Unicenter NeuMICS r11.0 will be available with OPNET System Performance Module for CA's Unicenter, shipping with IT Guru version 11.5. Later this year, this module will be upgraded to include integration support for CA's Unicenter Network and Systems Management 3.1, and Release 11.
