Symphoniq Implements Apdex Reporting Using BusinessPulse; Apdex to
Provide a Performance Benchmark That Communicates the Business
Impact of the Web Throughout the Organization Symphoniq(TM)
Corporation, created by the founders of NetIQ(TM) to manage the Web
application infrastructure, today announced one of the first
implementations of Apdex(TM) and will demonstrate this capability
at Interop(R) 2005, May 1-6 in Las Vegas, in the Performance
Pavilion, Booth 449-15. In a separate release the company announced
TrueView(TM) BusinessPulse(TM), a new product that leverages
TrueView's data collection capabilities to provide analysis and
reports that automate and streamline Web application management.
(See accompanying release.) Using BusinessPulse, Symphoniq was able
to quickly implement Apdex (Application Performance Index) reports
based on data collected by end-to-end monitoring of all Web
transactions in real time. Apdex is a numerical measure of user
satisfaction with the performance of enterprise applications, and
reflects the effectiveness of IT investments in contributing to
business objectives. The Apdex Alliance is a group of companies,
including Symphoniq, collaborating to promote an application
performance metric called Apdex. "Symphoniq is one of the first
companies to develop an Apdex reporting engine. This is an exciting
period in the Apdex movement where we see the benefits of the
approach and get first-hand experience in using the methodology.
The pioneering work by Symphoniq is already providing us with good
information and insights," said Apdex Alliance founder Peter
Sevcik. "The Web has business implications that touch every level
of today's organization from CEO to frontline administrators. Apdex
creates a unified approach for communicating the impact of Web
performance on business objectives," said Symphoniq CEO and NetIQ
founder, Hon Wong. BusinessPulse takes data from TrueView as it
monitors all user transactions, gathering information about
response time as the user session data moves through the Web
infrastructure. When the system senses a threshold violation at any
leg of the journey, it notifies the TrueView server to begin
recording. Because TrueView measures the performance of each tier,
from browser to backend, it shows an IT operator exactly where to
look when problems occur. Pricing and Availability Existing
customers will receive Apdex reporting in TrueView BusinessPulse as
part of their licensing agreement. New customers will receive Apdex
reports and BusinessPulse as part of TrueView Web Diagnostics,
TrueView J2EE Diagnostics and TrueView OWA Diagnostics.
BusinessPulse will be available in June 2005. About Symphoniq
