Indus International Inc. (NASDAQ: IINT), a leading Service Delivery
Management (SDM) solution provider, today announced that its
clients Xcel Energy and Progress Energy have recently received the
power industry's highest honor, the Edison Award, for initiatives
to which Indus solutions contributed significantly. Given annually
by the Edison Electric Institute (EEI), the prestigious prize is
bestowed upon the U.S. shareholder-owned utility or utilities and
international members that have made significant contributions to
the advancement of the industry. The winners were selected by a
panel consisting of the current EEI chairman and retired industry
executives. This year's award, the 78th, was presented this month
at EEI's annual convention in Washington, D.C. Xcel Energy Awarded
for Utility Innovations The Edison Award was presented to Xcel
Energy for its pioneering Utility Innovations (UI) initiative.
Indus participates on Xcel Energy's Strategic Advisory Board which
created Utility Innovations to leverage the creativity, knowledge
and skills of its technology partners and develop solutions that
improve customer service, optimize the management of local electric
grids and reduce cost structure. In addition to several other
groundbreaking initiatives, the company worked with Indus on a
"Workflow Optimization" initiative. This initiative was designed to
give Xcel Energy a comprehensive view of all work and resources in
the field, enabling the company to optimize work crew schedules,
equipment and materials through automation. The integrated asset
and field service management solutions from Indus used in the
effort enable Xcel Energy to better manage the supply and demand of
resources, giving them improved control of the company's
performance levels and costs of service. The Workflow Optimization
initiative was the first of the UI projects to be applied to the
entire company's day-to-day operations. The Indus Service Suite
solution includes the product set developed in UI and has already
delivered improved service levels and financial savings to Xcel
Energy, which implemented the Indus solution across the entire
10-state service territory. "Xcel Energy is honored to have
received this award from our colleagues in the electric industry,"
said Xcel Energy Vice President-Customer and Enterprise Solutions
and Chief Administrative Officer, Ray Gogel. "We have worked
diligently with Indus and our other Utility Innovations partners to
transform our business processes into an industry leadership
position. This recognition from EEI is validation that our
partnership approach with companies like Indus is having a real
impact -- not only in our own business but in the future of the
electric industry as a whole." Progress Energy Recognized for
Operational Excellence The Edison Award was also presented to
Progress Energy for its unwavering focus on customer satisfaction
and operational excellence. The outstanding operation of the
company's nuclear and fossil generating plants, which are supported
by Indus work and asset management solutions, drew particular
praise from EEI. Using an enterprisewide Indus asset management
solution, Progress Energy standardized hundreds of nuclear
operational procedures and business processes for its nuclear
fleet, resulting in significantly reduced operating costs,
increased net generation, improved safety and reduced outage
durations. By implementing advanced functionality such as real-time
performance management software for proactive condition-based
maintenance and key performance indicators, the company has
achieved record performance levels and continues to grow at a rate
that far exceeds the national average. "Indus offers its sincerest
congratulations to our clients, Xcel Energy and Progress Energy,
for receiving the Edison Award. We are proud to be partners with
these outstanding organizations and to have played a role in their
award-winning initiatives," said Indus President and CEO Greg
Dukat. "Taking the lessons we have learned from working with these
industry leaders, we are continuing to refine our solutions to
deliver unparalleled value to all of our clients in diverse
industries." About EEI Edison Electric Institute (EEI) is the
