Achievement furthers launch of Imagecast in cardiology market
BURLINGTON, Vt., Nov. 8 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- IDX Systems
Corporation (NASDAQ:IDXC), a leading provider of healthcare
information systems, today announced that its IDX(R) Imagecast(TM)
for Cardiology solution has achieved prestigious American College
of Cardiology-National Cardiovascular Data Registry (ACC-NCDR(R))
certification. To receive certification, Imagecast had to be able
to capture and format cardiovascular procedure data and submit it
to the ACC-NCDR(R). The ACC-NCDR(R) reviewed the product and
verified that it met their strict data collection standards and
export requirements. The ACC-NCDR(R) is a confidential quality
measurement program for cardiac and vascular facilities. The
ACC-NCDR(R)'s flagship registry, the national CathPCI Registry(TM),
allows cath labs to benchmark against nearly 600 hospitals and 2.5
million patient records. The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid
Services, the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare
Organizations (JCAHO), the FDA and The Leapfrog Group, among
others, recognize this registry as the gold standard for measuring
quality in the cath lab. ACC-NCDR(R) certified vendors are the
exclusive providers of software that allows institutions to
participate in the ACC-NCDR(R), and IDX is one of only 17 vendors
who have met the rigorous criteria established by the program. As a
vendor of ACC-NCDR(R) certified software, IDX will be able to
provide cardiac cath institutions with an easy, efficient means of
collecting data and participating in the ACC-NCDR(R). "Imagecast is
committed to providing world-class solutions, and ACC- NCDR(R)
certification represents a significant milestone in our effort to
deliver on that commitment in the area of specialty care," said
Debra Stenner, Vice President Business Planning and Product
Strategy, IDX Imagecast Operating Unit. "This achievement
exemplifies our ability to deliver a platform for enhanced patient
care and quality outcomes." Imagecast for Cardiology was
specifically developed to optimize and enhance the efficiency of
cardiac patient care. The product includes a continuously available
cardiovascular information system (CVIS) and a cardiovascular
picture archiving and communications system (CPACS). Built on the
same database as IDX(R) Imagecast(TM) for Radiology, Imagecast for
Cardiology leverages a hospital's investment in Imagecast
technology. About the American College of Cardiology-National
Cardiovascular Data Registry The ACC-NCDR(R) is a comprehensive
cardiac and vascular data repository for three national registries.
The ACC-NCDR(R)'s mission is to be the leading provider of services
to improve the quality of cardiovascular care through the
collection, analysis, and reporting of data and providing
educational and research activities. The ACC-NCDR(R) began in 1998,
with the CathPCI Registry(TM) that includes data collection and
reporting for diagnostic cath and percutaneous coronary
intervention (PCI) procedures. The CathPCI Registry(TM) has since
become the gold standard for cardiac data collection, reporting and
benchmarking. The registry consists of data from more than 600
institutions and over 2.5 million patient records. About IDX(R)
