Item 8.01 Other Events.
 
On December 9, 2009, Frontier Financial Corporation (the “Corporation”) announced that it will hold a special shareholder meeting on Wednesday, January 20, 2010, to request shareholders approve an increase in the total number of shares of common stock that the Corporation is authorized to issue.
 
A copy of the Corporation’s press release is attached hereto as Exhibit 99.1 and is incorporated by reference herein.
