European Union antitrust regulators on Wednesday will fine 13
logistics firms, including United Parcel Service Inc. (UPS), for
price fixing, Reuters reported Tuesday, citing two people familiar
with the matter and a European Commission document.
The other companies are Panalpina Welttransport Holding AG
(PWTN.EB), Expeditors International of Washington Inc. (EXPD),
CEVA, Schenker AG, Hellmann Worldwide Logistics, Kintetsu World
Express, Kuehne & Nagel International AG (KNIN.VX), Nippon
Express (China), Agility, UTi Worldwide Inc. (UTIW), DSV Air &
Sea SAS and Yusen Shenda Air & Sea Service, according to a
separate Commission document Reuters obtained.
Deutsche Post unit DHL Global Forwarding took part in the cartel
but alerted the regulator to the collusion and won't be fined, the
people told Reuters, and the company confirmed it.
The companies were charged in 2010 for fixing prices in the air
freight forwarding business and can be fined up to 10% of their
annual turnover for breaching EU rules.
