The Nebraska Athletic Commission, which regulates amateur and
professional mixed martial arts (MMA) and professional boxing,
launched a new mobile responsive website packed with online
content.
“We are very excited to have the updated website brimming with
information for all current and future contestants and officials,”
said Aaron Hendry, State Athletic Commissioner. “Content clarity,
easy navigation and coded to the mobile environment is what we set
out to do and we were able to accomplish this by partnering with
Nebraska Interactive.”
“The Commission works hard to ensure competitive and fair bouts.
We also provide training to MMA judges and referees. Every two
years each MMA judge and referee candidate needs to demonstrate
both a thorough knowledge of the sport and their duties prior to
licensure. Safety, protecting the contestants is our first
priority,” said Hendry.
In an effort to communicate succinctly, the website touts a
modern look with increased imagery and instant access to all the
information an athlete requires, whether they pursue professional
boxing or mixed martial arts. One of the most important items
featured is the Upcoming Events. Rather than an ordinary calendar,
the site lists all the events by date along with relevant event
images, so users see instantly what is on the horizon.
The website also contains information about the Commission,
which regulates approximately 25 events per year throughout the
State of Nebraska. In addition to ensuring competitive and fair
bouts, the Commission has numerous safeguards in place designed to
minimize an athlete’s undue risk of injury. The Commission’s
requirements are viewable on the website. Event permit
applications, promoter guidelines, training seminar schedules, and
an Athletic Pre-Participation Evaluation form plus rules and
regulations breaking down the requirements for licensees,
contestants and event requirements can all be found on the new
website with a single selection. A hot topic, the consequences for
doping are enumerated clearly defining a first, second and third
offense with accompanying suspensions and fines.
“Nebraska Interactive is excited to bring another collaborative
effort with state partners to fruition with the Nebraska Athletic
Commission website,” said Brent Hoffman, General Manager of
Nebraska Interactive. “Sports and safety go hand in hand and we’re
happy to organize that information and communicate it in a
comprehensible way for everyone interested in pursuing boxing and
mixed martial arts.”
