Fiscal transparency, state rankings, citizen engagement and easy navigation are all part of the award winning, mobile responsive, newly redesigned State of Nebraska website. The stunning and well organized website was built for citizens to access content with a natural organization and efficiency that works for business, citizen, and government.

Recently freshened scenic background videos represent various areas of the state and contribute to the welcoming state site. The homepage is now enriched with information from the Nebraska Budget Information Portal, Bureau of Labor and Statistics, and American’s Health Rankings providing the user an instant glance at the dollars spent in appropriations, state ranking for overall health, and unemployment rate comparison to all other states in the nation. Roll over the appropriations to see the amount spent in the last year or select the site for a deeper dive to create a query searching expenditures and revenues in addition to appropriations. Year over year comparisons can be made.

Boasting more than a million users in the last calendar year, users seek reference materials, agency information, payment processing, reporting capabilities, and every government service conceivable from court dates to job opportunities. Front and center, the search box allows users to access information producing optimized results through configurations, labeling, and tagging. The All State Services and All State Agencies pages quickly sort, producing instant results highlighted in yellow. The drop-down navigation features pertinent images and content commonly used, and homepage tiles are organized in sections based on categories and informed by Google Analytics.

“We know Nebraskans don’t want to browse a government website. Information directly in the homepage, including a Public Calendar, was priority one in addition to the mobile experience during this updated design. To prepare for consistent updates, we used interchangeable libraries, scripts, and task runners for future iterations. We are excited to promote government transparency and bring information that’s important to the citizen,” said Brent Hoffman, GM of Nebraska Interactive. Displayed in the footer contact information, access to LiveChat and social media are easily identifiable through icons. The user can access business, employment, state government, education, attractions, and more.
