Utah.Gov One of the Most Recognized State
Websites
Utah.Gov was recognized by the Center for Digital Government
(CDG) in three of its industry leading contests. The Center for
Digital Government announced the results of its biennial Digital
States Survey 2016, giving Utah an A grade. The Digital States
Survey evaluates states’ use of technology to improve service
delivery, increase capacity, streamline operations, and reach
policy goals and assigns each state a grade based on quantifiable
results.
“Utah continues to set the standard for connecting citizens to
their government through exceptional online services,” said Gov.
Gary Herbert. “We are proud of our track record, and we will work
continually to provide top quality electronic resources to Utah
residents and businesses.”
The Center for Digital Government is a national research and
advisory institute focused on technology policy and best practices
in state and local government.
“Excellence is embedded in our culture," said Mike Hussey, Utah
state Chief Information Officer. "We have a long commitment to
providing winning technology that is the core of our focus in Utah,
not an afterthought.”
Utah.Gov was also awarded second place for the sixth year
running in the Best of the Web Awards. The annual Best of the Web
Awards recognize state governments for their work to engage
citizens on the Internet while also providing them with online
tools to conveniently complete government transactions.
The Digital Government Achievement Awards recognized Utah
Watershed Restoration Initiative in the Driving Digital Government
State Government category. The award highlights outstanding agency
and department websites and applications.
In addition to its A grade, Utah was also recognized with
Digital States Category Awards for excellence in: Adaptive
Leadership, Health and Human Services, Public Safety, and first
place awards in Public Safety and Citizen Engagement.
“Government websites have changed a lot over the past 20 years
and so have citizen expectations,” said Todd Sander, executive
director of the Center for Digital Government. “This year’s winners
are well positioned to take up the challenge of a new era and lead
the impending transformation toward more integrated, anticipatory
and personalized electronic services.”
