Marketing campaign encourages Colorado citizens
to renew without going to the DMV office
Colorado’s Online Vehicle Registration Renewal (OVRR) marketing
campaign recently took home a big honor - a Bronze Horizon
Interactive Award. The leading international interactive media
competition saw over 1600 entries this year, all competing for
being recognized as the industry’s best in the coveted annual
awards. The campaign was a collaborative effort between Colorado
Division of Motor Vehicles (DMV) and Colorado Interactive, (dba
Colorado.gov).
“The purpose of this educational marketing campaign was to
encourage alternative services outside our offices by reducing
customer volume and wait times in offices across the state.” said
Mike Dixon, senior director of DMV. “We are excited to watch this
campaign continue to grow and gain momentum.”
The OVRR campaign includes new counter mats for each work
station, posters, window clings, postcards, pens, banners, online
and social media promos, and the most popular take away item - a
magnet shaped as a car with the URL printed on it. The magnet is
offered in both English and Spanish. This campaign also includes
cross messaging to let Colorado citizens know they can save time by
renewing their Colorado Driver’s License or State ID online.
Of the 4,418,064 vehicles eligible for online renewal in 2013,
681,395 vehicle registrations were completed online. This
represents a 15 percent adoption rate and a 28 percent increase
over 2012.
