United Carpets Group plc ("the Company") announces that on 26 March 2008 it was
informed that on that date Ian Bowness, the finance director of the Company, and
his wife each acquired 250,000 ordinary shares in the Company at 10.5p per
share.

Following this acquisition, Mr Bowness is interested in 1,466,208 ordinary
shares, representing 1.8 per cent. of the issued share capital of the Company.
