German travel operator TUI Deutschland GmbH will raise its prices for the coming summer season, the company said Saturday.

TUI Deutschland, a unit of TUI AG (TUI1.XE), said the main cost driver is the new air traffic tax. However, prices will be below the 2009 level, it said. The company had lowered its prices for the 2010 summer season.

Short- and medium-haul trips will be 2.5% more expensive on average. Prices for long-haul journeys will increase 3% on average, it said.

TUI AG is a holding company with assets in tourism and shipping, and owns 52% of Europe's largest travel operator TUI Travel PLC (TT.LN). TUI AG also owns about 43.3% in German container shipping company Hapag-Lloyd AG.
