International, Inc. (NYSE:SRX), a leading provider of technology
and strategic consulting services and solutions to government
organizations and commercial clients, today announced that it has
been awarded a single-award blanket purchasing agreement (BPA) by
the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Food and Nutrition Service
(FNS), to develop the next generation of the anti-fraud locator
using electronic benefits transfer (EBT) retailer transactions
(ALERT) system. The goal is to improve fraud detection on an
ongoing basis, for both known and unknown fraud types. The BPA has
a ceiling of $25 million over a 10-year period, if all options are
exercised. The ALERT system is a fraud-detection, decision-support
system designed to monitor and track electronically conducted
retail transactions completed by Supplemental Nutrition Assistance
Program (SNAP) recipients in authorized meal program and food
retailer locations. The ALERT system facilitates management of the
program by providing transaction-level information to the federal
personnel responsible for SNAP retailer management and compliance
activities. SRA will work with FNS to develop the next-generation
ALERT system, to enhance its functionality and modernize its
technology. SRA's solution includes advanced analytics, data mining
and pattern recognition to increase the volume of fraud detection.
SRA has also proposed a geographic information system solution that
will allow investigators the ability to detect fraud based on
geospatial analysis. "SRA has a long history of applying analytical
tools and methods to large data sets to identify fraud, waste and
abuse," said SRA Health and Civil Services Senior Vice President
Max Hall. "SRA is proud to support this important mission and -
especially in times like these - we're confident our fraud
detection expertise will help ensure that benefits are used for
their intended purpose." About SRA International, Inc. SRA and its
