OAO Gazprom Neft (SIBN.RS) has gained control of 74.43% of Sibir Energy PLC (SBE.LN), the London-listed oil producer said Monday.

According to Sibir's statement, Gazprom Neft owns a 34.1% stake in Sibir and a 14.67% stake through two companies. Gazprom Neft, the oil arm of state-controlled gas giant OAO Gazprom (GAZP.RS) also has a voting right for a 25.66% stake in Sibir, but doesn't technically own the stake.

Earlier Monday, Sibir said that Gazprom Neft bought a 25.66% stake in Sibir from businessman Igor Kesaev.

Kesaev's stake equaled that owned by his partner Chalva Tchigirinsky.

Trading in Sibir shares has been suspended since February, pending investigations into erroneous disclosures about controversial real estate dealings with Tchigirinsky.

Gazprom Neft started gradually building up its stake in Sibir in May.

Sibir operates the Salym fields in Western Siberia jointly with Royal Dutch Shell PLC (RDSA) and owns half of the Moscow Refinery.
