                   ARTHUR SHAW & COMPANY PLC ("the Company")

Further to the announcement issued by the Company on 22nd January, 2002, that it
would publish its preliminary results for the year ended 30th September, 2001,
on 31st January, 2002, it has been brought to the attention of the Directors
that, under the Listing Rules, this announcement had to be made by the
commencement of dealings today, or the listing of the Company's ordinary shares
may be suspended.   Since the directors were not in a position to announce these
results by then, the Company has requested that the listing of its ordinary
shares be suspended until the results are announced.

The announcement of the preliminary results for the year ended 30th September,
2002, is expected to take place on 31st January, 2002.
