The Board of Orb Estates PLC (the "Company") is pleased to announce that Johan
Claesson has been appointed a non-executive director of the Company, with
effect from 15th September 1997.  Mr Claesson is a Swedish national and is
Managing Director of CA Bygg & Fastigheter AB, a construction and real estate
group based in Kalmar, Sweden.

As at the date of appointment, Mr Claesson and his family were beneficially
interested in 910,632 ordinary shares in the Company representing 13.7% of the
issued equity share capital.

The Board welcomes Mr Claesson and believes that the Company will benefit from
his involvement as a director.

Johan Claesson commented,

"Orb is an interesting company with potential to growth both organically and
by corporate transactions.  By joining the Board I will be able to assist
directly in the development of the business and in enhancing shareholder
value."
