Appointment of Alternate Director

New Star Private Equity Investment Trust PLC (the "Company") announces that,
with effect from 29 August 2008, Mr Howard Covington has replaced Mr Ravinder
Anand as alternate to Mr John Duffield, a non-executive Director of the
Company.

Mr Covington (55) is Chief Executive and Director of New Star Asset Management
Group PLC.

There are no further details to be disclosed under Listing Rule 9.6.13R(2) to
(6).
