INTANDEM FILMS PLC
Board Changes
Intandem Films plc ("Intandem" or the "Company"), the London
based international film group, is pleased to announce the
appointment of Robert Mitchell as Chief Executive Officer with
immediate effect.
Robert, who first joined the Board in 2011 as a non executive
director, has previously worked for some of the biggest film
companies in the world. He worked for Walt Disney for 17 years
where he set up the UK operations of international film
distribution company, Buena Vista, in 1992. He was subsequently
promoted to Managing Director of Walt Disney UK. During his time at
Disney Robert released four of the then top 25 films ever
distributed in the UK, including Pirates of the Caribbean and The
Lion King. In 2004, he was voted International Distributor of the
Year by ICA and has been a BAFTA winner. He has executive produced
two award winning films: And When Did You Last See Your Father
staring Colin Firth and Flashbacks of a Fool staring Daniel Craig.
Robert has also previously worked at Warner Brothers.
Robert joined Intandem's executive management team in 2012 to
head up the UK distribution business. The Company will continue to
consider UK distribution opportunities but these can typically be
capital intensive in nature. Consistent with the Company's policies
of managing the risk associated with the film industry, and not
investing in the production of films from its own resources, in the
short to medium term the Company will only commit to UK
distribution engagements where it is possible to partner with a
second UK distributor in order to reduce the commitment of the
Company's own resources. Robert will replace Gary Smith who has
decided to step down from the Board and leave the Company to
combine his career as an executive producer with new opportunities
outside the film industry.
Berlin Film Festival 7 - 15 February 2013
Earlier this month the Company attended the Berlin Film
Festival. A number of sales from the current slate were signed with
distributors from territories across the globe for 2013/14 release,
including titles Believe (formerly known as Theatre of Dreams) and
The Laureate. Production of 10 Things I Hate About Life is delayed
but expected to resume in the second half of 2013.
John James, non executive director said "Robert Mitchell has
brought significant skills and experience to the Board since his
original appointment in 2011 and his appointment as CEO offers an
excellent opportunity for Intandem's future growth. On behalf of
the Board, I would like to thank Gary Smith for his contribution
over the years to the development of the Company and we wish him
every success in the future."
The Company expects to release its interim results for the six
month period ending 31 December 2012 in March 2013.
