The Secretary of State for Trade and Industry has decided, on the information
at present before him, and in accordance with the recommendation of the
Director General of Fair Trading, not to refer the following mergers to the
Competition Commission under the provisions of the Fair Trading Act 1973:

PROPOSED ACQUISTION BY AMERGEN ENERGY COMPANY LLC OF ASSETS OF GPU NUCLEAR
INC, JERSEY CENTRAL POWER & LIGHT COMPANY, METROPOLITIAN EDISON COMPANY AND
PENNSYLVANIA ELECTRIC COMPANY, NAMELY THREE MILE ISLAND UNIT 1.
