Notification Of Interests Of Directors And Connected Persons

The Company advises that on 25 October 2004 S.J.B. Shaw, Group Chief Financial
Officer, was awarded share options over 69,533 ordinary 1p shares at an exercise
price of 240 pence.

Mr Shaw has also contracted into a Save As You Earn plan whereby he has
contracted to save a monthly amount over 5 years and the proceeds of the savings
can be used to purchase a maximum of 9,552 shares at #1.73, being a 20% discount
on the mid market price on 27 September, the day preceding the invitation date.

His total resultant holding following this notification is 10,000 (0.01%) of the
issued ordinary share capital of the Company and share options over 200,603
ordinary shares (0.24%).
