Acquisition of Controlling Stake in Hollywood Studio and Purchase of Two Cartoon
Properties
Galleon Holdings plc ("Galleon" or the "Company"), the multi-media Group,
announces the acquisition of the controlling interest in Hollywood Animation
Studio, J Christopher Entertainment (JCE), for a total consideration of 12
million ordinary shares in Galleon prior to the recent share consolidation.
Galleon now has a 51% stake, following the purchase of its initial interest on
15 June 2004. The studio is currently completing the first full 11 minute
episode of Galleon's children's property Oggies, featuring extreme sports-loving
characters.
Chris Henderson of JCE, the founder, who retains the other 49 percent, said: "We
are delighted to be an integral part of Galleon. Their portfolio of character
properties is exciting and a joy to work with." Chris Henderson is an ex-Disney
producer, whose credits include The Hunch Back of Notre Dame, 101 Dalmations,
Hercules, the feature film Peter Pan's Return to Neverland and most recently,
Clifford the Big Red Dog, the animated movie.
Galleon also announces the purchase of two new cartoon properties: Professor
Winklebottom's Universe "It Smells" and Malcolm, 'he's a Bit of a Cult',
bringing its portfolio of cartoon properties to five, the others being Pepper's
Patrol and Astro Knights.
Professor Winklebottom's Universe, acquired from a South African Company, Bluke1
for #40,000 cash, is a children's cartoon series for 6-to-10 year olds. A two
minute trailer is currently being produced by JCE and will be completed by the
end of this month.
Malcolm is a teenage/adult cartoon property, for which a two minute trailer is
also in production at JCE. It was purchased from Geoffrey Tristram, a local
based fine artist for #25,000 or 2,500,000 shares at 1p (pre consolidation) and
25% of the net receipts. Geoffrey will provide Galleon with such artwork as may
be required and give him an option to produce artwork design subject to
availability and negotiation.
Jim Driscoll, Galleon's Chairman said: "Chris Henderson has demonstrated the
talent and skills of his production team since our announcement of the studio
acquisition last June. The first episode of Oggies is looking great. The
excellent work that has been done developing Winklebottom and Malcolm in four
months has shown us the commitment that Chris and his entire team have for our
IPR portfolio and strategy.
We will be taking these properties to the Mipcom TV Festival in Cannes early
next month where they will be shown to broadcasters from all over the world."
Mipcom is the world's leading annual industry festival for TV programming, at
which Oggies was first launched.
Galleon Group also recently appointed Durlacher Limited as its NOMAD and
financial adviser. The Company just undertook a 1-for-100 share consolidation at
25p per share. 969 million shares which became 9.7 million shares.
