                 BOARD APPOINTMENT and LICENCE OF APPOINTMENT

The Board of Bristol Water plc (the "Company") is pleased to announce the
appointment of Mr Chris Curling, aged 53, as a Non-Executive Director of the
Company with immediate effect.

He has recently retired as the Senior Partner of Osborne Clarke, a 100 partner
firm of solicitors headquartered in Bristol. He is a non-executive director of
Personal Group Holdings plc, an AIM listed company, and a number of private
companies.

As explained in the Shareholder Circular issued in December by Bristol Water
Group plc (the ultimate parent of theCompany), the Company has agreed
amendments to its licence of appointment as a water undertaker.  The amendments
mainly concern financial ringfencing of the Company's regulated activities.  The
amendments have been formally enacted.  One of the amendments relates to the
appointment of non-executive directors to the Board of the Company. The
appointment of Mr Curling ensures compliance with the new requirements.

There are no other disclosures required pursuant to paragraph 6.F.2(b) to (g) of
The Listing Rules in connection with Mr Curling's appointment.
