                    Benfield Appoints Two New Board Directors


Benfield, the world's leading independent reinsurance and risk intermediary,
today announces the appointment of Mr Robert Bredahl and Mr Frank Wilkinson to
its Board of Directors with immediate effect.

Robert Bredahl (43) will join the Board as an Executive Director. Rob is
currently the head of Benfield Advisory and President of Benfield Inc. He is a
US national and resides in New Jersey.

Frank Wilkinson (67) will join the Board as a Non-Executive Director. Frank was
employed by E W Blanch Holdings, Inc from 1969 until 2000, serving at Board
level.  He is a US national and resides in Minneapolis.

Biographies:



Robert Bredahl is the President of Benfield Inc. and the global head of Benfield
Advisory, Benfield's wholly owned securities firm.  He is also responsible for
the firm's Client Development team as well as ReMetrics and Specialties.  Prior
to joining Benfield in March 2002, Rob served as Chief Executive Officer of
Inreon PLC and Managing Director and Head of U.S. Derivative Sales for Barclays
Bank.



Rob earned a bachelor's degree in economics from Middlebury College and is a
graduate of the Executive Risk Management Program at the Wharton School of the
University of Pennsylvania.  He holds several securities licences including the
Series 24, Series 7 and Series 63.



Frank Wilkinson was employed by E.W. Blanch Holdings, Inc. from 1969 until
retiring in 2000.



Frank held various titles (including Executive Vice President in 1978) before
being named Vice Chairman in 1982.  In 1985 the Company was converted from a
corporation to a partnership and Frank became one of four original general
partners.  In 1993 E.W. Blanch Holdings, Inc. became a publicly held corporation
and Frank held the title of Executive Vice President and was on the Board of
Directors.  Frank was also Chairman of Paragon Reinsurance Risk Management
Services, one of the operating divisions of Holdings.  He currently is an
outside director of the United Fire Group (UFCS) and Hub International (HBG)
where he chairs the Compensation Committee of both.



Frank received a B.A. from Davidson College (1961), an M.B.A. from the Wharton
School of the University of Pennsylvania (1965) and a C.P.C.U. designation in
1964.  He is involved with several not for profit organisations: he is a board
member of the Walker Art Museum and chair of its Audit Committee, a trustee and
past Secretary/Treasurer of the Breck School, chair of the Finance Committee of
St Mark's Episcopal Cathedral, chair of the Minnesota Advisory Board of the
Trust for Public Land and chair for the Finance and Audit Committee of the
Institute for New Americans, a non profit organisation which manages two schools
in Minneapolis for recent immigrants.
