Ericsson Mobility World - regional initiative to speed up global Mobile
Internet development

Today, Ericsson launched Ericsson Mobility World, an industry-wide
initiative to accelerate the development of the global Mobile Internet
market. Ericsson plans to establish centers for application development
in every major country for Mobile Internet.

Through a worldwide network of centers and web-based services, Ericsson
Mobility World will help network operators, developers, content
providers and enterprises to collaborate on developing and bringing to
market innovative applications and services, for millions of Mobile
Internet users worldwide.

Ericsson also announced the first three regional centers to be included
in Ericsson Mobility World. These centers, which are all already working
on Mobile Internet projects with Ericsson partners, are based in New
York, Dusseldorf and Madrid. The plan is to establish centers in all the
main countries where there is early potential for Mobile Internet,
building on Ericsson's expertise and experience in developing industry
partnerships with companies of all sizes.

"The Mobile Internet industry needs to create a critical mass of
applications and services that people really want, and to get these to
market as quickly as possible," said Torbjorn Nilsson, Senior Vice
President, Ericsson. "Ericsson Mobility World makes this possible, by
bringing together potentially thousands of companies, to share
knowledge, create partnerships and build the future. Through regional
centers and web-based services, Ericsson Mobility World will enable
companies to collaborate on creating innovative services and
applications."

The global nature of Ericsson Mobility World is important because it
gives operators, content providers and other companies access to tens of
thousands of developers around the world. Both global and local
companies benefit, particularly in markets where the existing developer
community might be small. The advantage to developers is being able to
offer their skills to more than 400 operators worldwide and gaining
access to a global knowledge network. Consumers ultimately benefit too,
through services that meet 'real world' needs.

Services offered within Ericsson Mobility World will support partners
through all phases of creating applications and services, from
developing the initial idea, technical concept and business plan
evaluation, through to design, technical development, testing, network
implementation and integration.

Ericsson Mobility World builds on existing services that Ericsson has
developed to support partners. Examples include the Mobile Application
Initiative and local facilities, such as Ericsson Cyberlab in the USA,
the Mobile Internet Institutes in Latin America, OpenLab in China and
42nd Precinct in Australia. Venture capital organizations within
Ericsson will also have close involvement.

In addition, Ericsson Mobility World embraces the Ericsson Developers'
Zone, a web-based, global resource for tools, technologies, training and
other forms of support focused on Mobile Internet. Since its launch in
1999, it has attracted in excess of 80,000 individual members and more
than 2,000 company members.

Ericsson Mobility World will be rolled out during 2001 and will offer
several categories of membership to suit the needs of different
participants, from entry-level support services through to specific
projects with Ericsson and other companies.

Ericsson is the leading communications supplier, combining innovation in
mobility and Internet in creating the new era of mobile Internet.
