                     BEA - TAURO ACQUIRES 10% OF BERGESEN

In a statement to Oslo Stock Exchange today Tauro Company Limited is informing
the Stock Exchange that they are the beneficial owners of 6.026.902 shares in
Bergesen d.y. ASA, which have been registered in the name of HSBC Investment
Bank PLC.

We have been informed, and have been authorized to mention, that Tauro is a 
private investment vehicle for the Sohmen family of Hong Kong.  The Sohmen 
family has interests in various shipping companies collectively known under 
the name World-Wide Shipping and is engaged in both wet and dry bulk shipping.
